CB2′s Fight for Long Island College Hospital

CB2′s Fight for Long Island College Hospital

Locals upset over news of Long Island College Hospital’s imminent closure came out to last night’s Community Board 2 meeting, wondering if the board was trying to stop the closure and how the closure will affect them.

“All of our elected officials are working very hard to reverse that,” Chairperson John Dew said, referring to the hospital’s closure. He invited locals to a community forum that will be held tonight, Feb. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kane Street Synagogue, located on 236 Kane Street.

Laurie Cumbo, a candidate for the 35th City Council District, said the closure of LICH could lead to further crowding in surrounding hospitals.
